How can I help?

There are lots of ways to help. The opportunities are available for all ages and are an excellent way to help children in all four areas of need

1.) FUNDRAISING

  • BAKE SALE / LEMONADE STAND – Excellent way for children to get involved. Bake some treats, make some lemonade and raise money for the benefits of local children.
  • YARD SALE – If you are looking for an activity for the entire family, consider a yard sale. Everyone can participate in the process of selecting items, making signs, and running the sale. In the end, you can feel great by working together as a family and by donating the profits to local charities.
  • FOOD DRIVE – Whenever it is at school, work or church, organizing a food drive can be rewarding and productive to many local food banks. It is also a great way to get more involved and spread the word about local community needs.
  • CREATIVE EVENTS – Stretch your imagination by using your talents, your hobbies and your events to help raise funds.
    • TALENT -Lawn-mowing skills, tutoring, sports-a-thon. There are countless ways to use your talents to raise money. How creative can you be?
    • HOBBIES – Do you have a marketable hobby, such as photography, 3D printing, or singing? Find a way to showcase your skills and raise funds while doing it.
    • EVENTS – Birthday parties, kick-off parties, and social gatherings are all excellent events to ask participants to bring money or food items to donate in lieu of presents.

2.) VOLUNTEER

Most organizations that are for the benefit of children rely heavily on volunteers to operate. Contact local organizations for volunteer opportunities. The list below are some national organizations that have local affiliates throughout the US.

3.) SPEAK UP FOR KIDS

One of the major sources of assistance for children non-for-profit organizations is government assistance. Send a message to your local, state and federal representatives to express your desire for support of various organizations. Take it a step further and start a letter writing drive at school, work or church to stress the importance of continuing support. Remember that you are speaking for ones who do not have a voice.
